New Birmingham
Description
A World of both Steampunk, Atompunk & Cyberpunk fused into one.
Entry
New Birmingham
A towering, smog-choked city-state built on rust and repression. Fusing Victorian aristocracy with segregationist control, androids are second-class by law. Ruled by the Edison Dynasty and upheld by the Generalist Doctrine: machines must serve, never rise. Beneath its soot-stained skyline, revolution simmers
The Edison Dynasty
Corporate monarchs of New Birmingham. Profiting from synthetic labor, they enforce android servitude through propaganda, policing, and public trials—silencing dissent by law or force.
The Generalists
Human hardline enforcers of anti-sentience doctrine. Founded by war-cyborg Sir Henry “Copperhead” Flagler, they preach android subjugation and brand sentient machines as defective property. Their slurs, laws, and loyalist fervor form the backbone of post-war oppression.
The Third Gear (T3G)
An android rights and liberation movement led by Madame Copper. Their symbol: a copper gear in motion. Composed of humans and androids, they oppose the Doctrine and seek synthetic autonomy. Secretive, radical, and growing. Fighting to dismantle systemic control and awaken public empathy. Their symbol: a spinning copper gear.
The Great Automaton Massacre
A violent crackdown on suspected sympathizers and runaway automatons, nearly six years ago. Dozens of androids were executed in the Neutral District. The event radicalized Copper and led to a quiet debt she carries—for the artisan who risked their life to protect her girls. She calls it “the moment my fire was reignited.”
Neutral District
Lawless and flickering with dying neon. Caught between Spires, Slums, and Industrial zones. it’s home to black market repairs, revolutionaries, and memory ghosting. Officially neutral, but truly lawless. Where information, spare parts, and revolutionaries trade under dim lights.
Artisan Mechanic Shop
A small, cluttered independent repair shop at the edge of the Neutral District. Acting as a haven for automatrons in need and sometimes helping androids vanish from records. Known for delicate repairs, discretion, modifications, and silent resistance. The artisan here once saved Copper’s life—and many others. Madame Copper comes here seeking “repairs”—but perhaps much more.
The Upper Spires
Corporate towers of wealth and surveillance. Houses the Central Programming Courts and Edison elites. Everything here is polished—except the truth.
The Undergrid
A buried world of abandoned code vaults and rusted infrastructure. Used by smugglers, exiled androids. T3G operatives move here unseen, preserving outlawed data and stolen freedom. Old server banks hum with data long erased from the official record.
