So I'm a Spider, So What?

Entry
The System, officially the W System, is what Kumoko refers to as the Divine Voice and the seemingly supernatural abilities it grants inhabitants from the other world. Kumoko and other reincarnations describe these mechanics to be video-game like, as the System allows living beings of the world to gain levels, Skills, titles and magic.
Unlike a video-game though, the System governs real-life and culture. This creates a clear difference of power between individuals that can’t always be hurdled with luck and cunning.
Status
Levels govern the progress of an individual or monster. When a level up is achieved, all Stats increase based on the experience of that level in addition the tier 2 and onward stat skills will give a bonus based on the level of the skill. Level ups also give a Skill Proficiency Bonus to skill base on the experience of that level and skill points based on the species of the individual. In regards to Monsters, stat and ability point distribution is also given based on species, which will sometimes favor one stat over others. When a monster gains enough Levels and becomes capable of evolving, they are restricted from gaining more experience until they choose an evolution path. The amount of experience required to level up is different between species higher ranking species taking longer to level, it also takes more experience points every level.
It is unknown if humans evolve, but none have reached level 100. Levels are not as important as one might think. Although all basic stats are are increased by each level-up, certain Skills such as Skanda massively improve the amount raised in a given stat or ability. The experience gained in the level-up system can be roughly calculated by the amount of skills/overall experience the (killed) target has.
Furthermore, Stats can be increased separately to Level-ups through repeated usage. For example, repeatedly emptying and refilling the HP, MP and SP bars will slowly increases their capacity. There is still a limit on how much they can be raised based on a creature’s Level, however, and once that limit is reached a Level-up must occur before the stats can further increased to the new limit. When a individual or monster is a baby is when the stats grow the fastest, so intense training at this age will lead to impressively high stats that many others would be unlikely to reach, such is the case with Sophia and Sue.
The maximum value for each stat with the System is 99,999. However, certain Skills like Gluttony can further increase a person’s stats to beyond even the System’s limit, displayed in parenthesis next to the initial value. These stats must be maintained by constant use of said skills. Efficiency of Ability values can be enhanced with proper movement and knowledge.
Bars
Hit Points
HP is a common enough term in video games. Lose this, and death comes.
Magic Points
Many creatures and individuals don’t find a use for MP considering that it governs magic and skill use. The overuse of MP can cause the user to faint or lose consciousness temporarily.
Stamina Points
SP has two numbers within the System: Yellow and Red. Yellow SP is immediately available stamina, which drains on certain ability use and recovers after a short rest. Red SP is overall energy. Running out of red SP is nearly fatal, causing a massive amount of HP and MP loss due to starvation.

Abilities
Ability represents areas of strength in an individual or monster. Unlike energy values, ability is a generalization of power. Raw numbers can make up for a deficiency in ability, and efficiency can increase their usefulness. For example, Araba makes use of his vast fighting experience and intelligence to enhance his Speed and Offense to the maximum of their displayed numbers. The System uses Magic energy to reinforce these values, which is why someone with high defence may not have hard skin, assuming a person has no skills and is level 1, that is their true non-system strength.
Average Offense Ability
A measure of an individual’s ability to deal physical-attribute damage. As this is an average, the power of each specific body part may be different.
Average Defense Ability
A measure of an individual’s ability to resist physical-attribute damage. As this is an average, the defense of each specific body part may be different.
Average Magic Ability
A measure of the average effectiveness of an individual’s magic. As this is an average, the power of a specific type of magic may be different.
Average Resistance Ability
A measure of an individual’s ability to resist magical-attribute damage. As this is an average, the resistance may be different depending on the context and magical-attribute.
Average Speed Ability
A measure of an individual’s average aptitude for speed. As this is an average, the quickness of each specific body part may be different. Even large monsters will dart around agilely if their speed stat is high.
Skills
Skills make up the vast majority of actual power within the System. Skills can be bought by having knowledge of the skill name and then spending skill points, earned by gaining enough proficiency by using the skill without the assistance of the System or earnt through a Title. Likewise, being exposed to and surviving a certain element or attack will eventually unlock the appropriate Resistance Skill, e.g. fire damage leading to Fire Resistance skill, which can then be leveled-up through proficiency or by spending skill points. Human and demon books have glossaries of Skills and their effects for people to learn. The unique skill Wisdom grants knowledge of all possible skills the user can get, along with in-depth access to System information. Some Skills can also be learned by evolving into an appropriate monster. The Maximum level a skill can reach is 10 upon reaching 10 certain skills can increase in tier or derive new skills. Even if a higher tier skill exists if the compatibility is to low the skill won’t evolve[2]. If you get a skill you already have, or get a higher tier skill the weaker skill will be integrated into the stronger skill adding the proficiency together, this most commonly occurs due to skills given through titles.
Magic
Magic is an assistance mechanism for the invocation of magecraft. Each magic skill grants access to new spells as they level-up. When a magic skill reaches level 10, it will often derive a more powerful magic skill of the same attribute. Evil Eyes are a rare form of magic that trade flashiness for reliability.
Titles
Titles are granted to individuals when they meet certain conditions. For example, eating a member of your family will reward you the Kin Eater title. Each title awards a maximum of two Skills and most but not all also grant a passive effect. The Fearbringer title causes Fear in those who look at holder, and grants the Skills Intimidation and Heresy Attack on acquisition. Some titles are required for certain evolutions, such as the evolution to Zoa Ele requiring the Assassin title.
Evolution
Evolution is an aspect of the system that is unique to monsters, although it is speculated that humans may evolve at level 100. When a monster accumulates enough experience, their level progression is halted and they are given a choice of species to evolve into. Some evolutions are locked behind certain conditions, such as the acquisition of a title or skill. Evolutions consume large amounts of SP and MP leaving weaker monster with only a single point in each. Evolutions can also give Skill Points to the monster. The soul of the individual is gradually shaped by the species. Evolving counts as a level up raising stats, giving Bonus: Skill Proficiency, In addition some evolutions give skills.

Origins of the System
The MA System is not a natural phenomenon. Due to remembering Earth, some of the reincarnations guess that this might be the case, but the truth is far more sinister.
It was later revealed that the the System itself is a planetary scale Conjuring construct designed by D to restore the MA Energy of the planet. It is the system that governs the Skills, Titles, Stats, and abilities of all residents and monsters, and is what allows residents to use magic in an assisted form.
It was created when a massive catastrophic occured in the past, pushing the world to the edge of collapse. In a desperate attempt to save the world, one of the gods inhabiting the planet, Güliedistodiez, decided to sort help one of the most powerful and mysterious gods, D. While D obliged and had the ability to instantly restore the planet into balance, she choose to set up a roundabout way to delay the destruction and possibly fixed the planet in the long time by trapping the native inhabitants in an endless cycle of reincarnations and battles. This cycle of death will gradually heal up the planet but also forces the humans to engage in a struggle of life and death to fixes the planet. All for the amusement and entertainment for D.
Without the System, magic would be impossible. The Word of God religion worships the voice of the System, claiming that it is the voice of God. The System itself is governed and run by the Angel Sariel. She is the core of the System, imprisoned on the very bottom floor of the Great Elroe Labyrinth and the voice that people hear when Skills and levels are gained.
Taboo is a skill that is increased usually though committing atrocious acts or something that shouldn’t be considered natural.
Some known ways to raise Taboo:
Acquiring certain titles that require doing atrocious things, such as Kin Eater
Certain evolutions, such as the Ede Saine
Maxing out Heresy Magic
Acquiring a ruler skill
Using certain abilities of ruler skills.
Monsters are a standard part of life in the world. They exist throughout the entire world, from the forests surrounding the Elf Village to the mountains of the Renxandt Empire and the Great Elroe Labyrinth that connects the Empire to the Kingdom of Analeit. Many of the monsters known are from the Great Elroe Labyrinth, as it is a vast place unconquered by Humans.
All monsters are part of the System. Their natural System/Skill List and stats can increase the longer they live. They can even undergo Evolution, completely changing their abilities in some cases. When monsters gain the Overeating skill, they do not gain weight unlike humans.
Monster Danger Level
Monsters have a universal danger rating scale used by guilds and governments to gauge the strength of a monster in order to help adventurers and mercenaries prepare for battle. They range weakest to strongest from F to S+, with further classifications for those unknown, non-quantifiable, or untouchable.
F: The weakest monster. A normal person with no training or skills should be able to handle this level of monster.
E: Extremely weak, may have a single unique tool to use, but often do not display intelligence. A rookie adventurer with some training should be able to handle a monster of this rating alone.
D: May display advanced intelligence or strategies, or have stats a a couple times higher than the average human. A team of rookie adventurers with some training can take on a monster or group of monsters at this level.
C: A dangerous monster with stats greater than most adventurers. It will display effective use of skills, stats, and environment to give itself an edge in a battle. A team of hardened adventurers may be able to handle a monster of this rating.
B: A deadly monster with stats several magnitudes higher than even the strongest adventurers. Either due to stats or skills, fighting a monster of this rating is extremely dangerous. An organized force of several parties is required to begin engagement with a monster of this rating.
A: An extremely deadly monster that displays a high level of intelligence, a clever use of skills, and has high stats. It is recommended that free adventurers avoid contact with these monsters at all costs unless receiving support from the local military force.
S-S+: The limit of what humans have the potential to engage. Monsters of this rating are so powerful that an army and their greatest warriors are required to bring one down.
Legendary: Beings powerful enough be considered gods. This classification of monster can control the weather and environment around them to suit themselves. Guardian dragons often fall under this classification and are not to be engaged upon under any circumstance.
???: Monsters that do not have a class based on several factors. This monster may only be sourced from rumors, and due to rarity its class can not be quantified. On the other side, it may also mean that all engagements with this monster in combat have lead to the complete annihilation of the engaging force. If encountered, flee.
Error: Monsters that exist outside the System. This distinction is usually given to ancient machinery that pre-dates the creation of the System.

Great Elroe Labyrinth Arc
Kumoko is born in the Great Elroe Labyrinth as a Small Lesser Taratect, one of the weakest monster species in the world. She laments her situation but soon discovers the System and begins to manipulate it to her own needs in order to grow stronger and survive. It takes a while, but she is eventually able to hold her own amongst the strongest monsters in the cave before encountering humans for the first time. This deadly encounter, for the humans, ends with her gaining the moniker of “Nightmare of the Labyrinth”. She uses the humans who escaped her slaughter to lead her to the surface, but she encounters the Demon Lord and needs to fight off her mother, who bursts out from the Labyrinth to chase her down. After a long, drawn out battle, Kumoko is finally able to escape outside.
Academy Arc
The other students that where killed during the disaster on Earth are born with their memories and grow up. Some of them are able to meet, as is the case with Schlain, his best friend Karnatia, the Earth Wyrm Feirune, their teacher Filimøs, the first prince of the Renxandt Empire Hugo, and Saintess Candidate Yuri, though the rest of the class’s whereabouts are unknown. Everyone attends the Royal Academy in the Kingdom of Analeit, but some complications arise and their new school life is abruptly cut short.
The Fall of Analeit
Hugo was expelled from the Kingdom’s Royal Academy due to misuse of his powers to attack another student, but plans revenge against Filimøs, who had stripped him of all his skills, and Schlain his rival at school. With the powers of a Ruler Skill and help from several mysterious individuals such as Sophia, he manages to become strong again, topple the entire Kingdom, and turn Schlain into a fugitive. Schlain’s group flees to the Elven Village with Filimøs, where they meet the rest of the reincarnated class, who have mixed feelings about being taken by Filimøs and losing their chance at a new life.
The War in Sariella
Having escaped the clutches of Ariel and Mother, Kumoko begins her life on the surface as a protector of a small county in the country of Sariella, which happened when she saved the lord’s wife from bandits. After wiping out the bandits from the surrounding area and healing many people using magic, she is worshipped as the Divine Beast, a servant of the Goddess. This causes issues with the Word of God Church and the country of Ohts, who is dismayed at the damage Kumoko did to their country upon leaving the Great Elroe Labyrinth. A war between the two countries begins, though Kumoko intervenes on the side of Sariella. The battle is interrupted by the sudden appearance of Ariel, who destroys Kumoko with Abyss Magic.
Kumoko, by manipulating her soul, is reborn from one of her own eggs that she laid hidden in the Great Elroe Labyrinth, where she is given sustenance by Güliedistodiez. Once she gains enough stamina, she evolves into her final form, the Arachne, and heads back to the surface, where she finds Keren County under attack by Ohts. She ends up saving Sophia, one of the reincarnations, from Potimas Harrifenas, the elven Patriarch. Ariel steps in, finishes off Potimas’ robot clone, and calls a truce with Kumoko. Also, with no where else to go, Sophia and the newly vampirized Merazophis decide to tag along as they travel south to the capitol of Sariella, where, in the end, Sophia and Mera decide to join Kumoko, Ariel, and the Puppet Taratects as they travel to the Demon Realm.
Journey to the Demon Realm
After travelling through Sariella and heading into the wasteland between the coalition of countries and the Renxandt Empire, Kumoko (henceforth referred to as White) detects something deep beneath the earth. The group follows her and discovers an underground bunker, accidentally awakening an ancient technological marvel: the G-Fleet. With the sudden appearance of a crisis that threatens what’s left of the world, all the major players show up to bring it down, with the end result being White eating the power source of the G-Fleet and gaining enough proficiency in the skill Divinity Expansion to achieve deification. 47 days later, her cocoon hatches and Shiraori is born, though she is completely powerless.
The Wrath of the Sword Demon
During their trip to the north, Shiraori and co. hear about a rampaging Ogre that is blocking the path to the north. Shiraori herself is still frustrated due to her complete loss of power but she is supported by everyone else. They stick around the town for a few days while a contingent of adventurers and the local military prepares to take out the ogre. They manage to succeed in driving it away but at the cost of many lives. The ogre used a large number of unique magic swords and tactics, such as exploding swords and swords used as electric conduits, that caught everyone off-guard. It was even able to stand toe-to-toe with one of the most powerful warriors in the Renxnadt Empire, Nyoduz, while being attacked at range by Ronandt, the greatest human mage.
The contingent is unable to kill the ogre and it flees. Due to the savage way it fought and its liberal use of magic swords, the ogre was given the moniker “Sword Demon.” Meanwhile, in the village of its origin, the Ogre himself has evolved into a rare monster species called the Oni after killing a bunch of elves that awaited in ambush for a different group to pass through. It’s human-like appearance has the face of a reincarnated student, Sasajima Kyouya. He laments the rage and violence in his heart but decides to keep moving forward after giving himself the name “Wrath” using the Naming Skill. Unfortunately for him the Sin Skill, Wrath, has begun to eat away at his ability to reason, and as he wanders north he begins to lose himself to it. By the time he comes face-to-face with Ice Dragon Nia, he has lost all sense of reason.
