Gamindustri Super Dimension version:
Two worlds exist in Super Dimension: Celestia and The World Below. Celestia is where the goddesses reside while The World Below is where the humans live in the lands protected by the goddesses. Gamindustri is composed of four landmasses (also called planets) floating in the sky: Planeptune, Lastation, Leanbox and Lowee.
Each of these landmasses have smaller floating islands surrounding them that are attached by long cables meant to hold the lifts that serve as transportation between the islands and central landmass. These smaller islands hold both towns and dungeons.
Gamindustri’s landmasses, Planeptune, Lastation, Lowee, and Leanbox are ruled by its respective CPUs: Neptune, Noire, Blanc, and Vert. Nepgear, the younger sister of Neptune, Uni, the younger sister of Noire, and Rom and Ram, the younger twin sisters of Blanc, become CPU Candidates of their respective nations, standing as the future successors of the CPUs. Vert is the only CPU who does not recieve a younger sister, meaning that Leanbox doesn’t have its own CPU Candidate.
The governing of each nation is essentially done by humans, though each CPU does have the power to veto any decision. The overall government is called the Basilicom. The CPUs offer passive protection from monsters as long as people believe in them. There are two parts to the Basilicom: the sanctuary which manages affairs related to the CPU and the Parliament which manages the laws and citizens of the nation.
The Basilicom is a holy organization in the series that serves directly under the CPUs of each nation and governs each land. Each nation has their own Basilicom and serve as both a place of worship for the people and a place where they can be granted an audience to meet them in person.
Basilicoms are holy organizations run by those who serve the goddesses. Long ago, Basilicoms were created by CPUs, Console Patron Units who are also called goddesses. The Basilicom staff assists them in governing the world. On the other hand, they preform missionary work to spread their beliefs. There are two parts to a Basilicom: the sanctuary where the goddesses are cared for, and the parliament for political activities. The Basilicom also manages the sky harbors, requiring people to obtain permits to travel to different land. They also preform research regarding the monsters in Gamindustri.
The Basilicom also serves as a home and workplace for the CPUs.
Basilicom Branches
There are two parts of a Basilicom: The Parliament and the Sanctuary.
Sanctuary
This is the branch of the Basilicom that cares for their goddess of worship when they descend from Celestia to visit the human world. Aside from pampering their goddesses, some of the members act as evangelists to spread their beliefs of their individual goddesses across both their land and other lands.
Parliament
This is the Branch of the Basilicom that handles political affairs and are seemingly in control of the landmass when their goddess is not present to take control of the direction the landmass takes. Basilicom Parliaments also handle Terraportation and the research of the uprising of monsters in their respective landmasses. The Parliament does not have complete control over the nation and works somewhat as democracy, only being able to create changes into the respective landmass with a significant number of votes.
Originally, Gamindustri was ruled by only one goddess, Arfoire. However, Arfoire lost control of herself and nearly destroyed the world. Due to the efforts of the four legendary heroes from Planeptune, Lastation, Lowee, and Leanbox, the world was saved. Arfoire promised to never abuse her powers ever again and separated a part of her power from herself. This was the birth of Histoire, the tome responsible for recording every event in history and essentially the world itself.
After this event, Arfoire had no longer wished to rule the world by herself and decided created four new CPUs: Neptune, Noire, Blanc, and Vert. These four goddesses contained only a quarter of the power of a true goddess. Each of them were responsible for one of the four nations in Gamindustri. Passing down her knowledge and some of her personality traits to each of them. Unlike Arfoire, whose power was absolute, each of them only possessed a quarter of the power of a true goddess.
The Guild was known as a group of so-called Heretics. Not all of them serve directly under the Basilicom, but they each worship a different goddess than the one on their native land. It’s creation was due to the purge against on Leanbox which lead most to flee to Lowee. Due to this, Lowee created a city for The Guild called “Guild City.”
Arfoire is the main antagonist of Hyperdimension Neptunia. While originally the only goddess of Gamindustri, she no longer wished to rule alone so she used the tome Histoire to create Neptune, Noire, Blanc, and Vert.
Histoire is a mysterious girl that calls herself the tome of history. She was created by the original goddess who attempted to use her powers for evil, but was stopped by the four legendary heroes of Gamindustri. In order to prevent using her powers for ill will ever again, the goddess separated part of her power from herself which lead to the creation of Histoire. Since then, all changes made to Gamindustri have been preformed through her.
People who don’t worship the goddess of the land they’re born on. They’re so-called heretics. The heretics gathered together and established the Guild. It’s the same on every planet, but people look down Guild members due to being branded as heretics. The Guild’s hideout, subtly titled Guild City, is among Lowee’s cities.
About ten years ago, there was an oppressive movement against heretics in Leanbox, leading to a major purge. Most members barely made it to Lowee safe, that’s supposedly how the Guild started. Those who escaped to Lowee were temporarily taken into custody as heretics at Entremets, the Central Basilicom. Then, they decided to create a city for the Heretics, run by heretics; Guild City. Their Basilicom is run by the Guild and their members are the city’s residents. The whole city belongs to the Guild.
Console Patron Units of the Super Dimension are goddesses who protect their own individual landmasses and primarily live in the a place called Celestia, which is the world above that of the human realm. The CPUs main duty is to protect the land she rules from any threat.
Powers and Abilities
Each CPU possesses a common set of powers and abilities.
Powers
Hard Drive Divinity: CPUs with the capability to can transform into their goddess form, allowing them to access the power of their equipped Processor Units.
Share Condensation: CPUs can condense the shares they acquire and turn it into power. Condensing their shares is also what allows them to transform into goddess form or gain access to their weapon.
Flight: CPUs can fly distances, levitate from the ground, and fight from high altitudes above ground.
Immortality: CPUs in power will not age. In Hyperdimension Neptunia, If they are in Celestia, they will never go hungry nor get tired. This doesn’t mean that CPUs are completely invincible. They can still be incapacitated and even die in combat or due to insufficient shares.
Passive Protection: In Hyperdimension Neptunia, this passive ability allows them to protect their nations, including from monsters, even if they are away from their nation.
Transformation
As mentioned previously, CPUs have the ability to transform between human and goddess forms, but their range extends past just those. CPUs are capable of taking on up to five forms:
Human Form: The normal form of all the CPUs before HDD is activated.
Goddess (CPU) Form: The form that is taken after HDD is activated.
Weaknesses
Share Reliance: As CPUs rely on share, it can also act as their weakness. Without enough share, CPUs can be incapacitated and even die. In some cases, CPUs just lose their powers and live on as a human for the rest of their lives.
Virus: Acting as a status ailment, Virus seals their ability to transform into HDD form.
Celestia is the world above the human world and also where the goddesses live. In Celestia, the goddesses never get hungry or tired meaning they are more than likely to be able to stay in their goddess form all the time while here which would also explain why they were able to fight for so many years without stopping.
Planeptune, also known as the land of Purple Progress, is the land protected by the Console Patron Unit (CPU) Purple Heart.
In the Super Dimension, Planeptune is a floating landmass, just like the other nations. Due to the “theme” of Planeptune being futuristic, it has a very advanced look to it. Connected to the main landmass by long cable cords are smaller islands which seemingly hold the other towns due to the main landmass being where the central city is located. While Planeptune has several large rock formations surrounding it, it also has an abundance of grass and water surrounding the entirety of the mainland and its islands.
Lastation, also known as the Land of Black Regality, is the land protected by the Console Patron Unit (CPU) Black Heart.
In the Super Dimension, Lastation is a floating landmass, just like the other nations. Due to the “theme” of Lastation being steam punk, it has a very industrialized look to it. Connected to the main landmass by long cable cords are smaller islands which seemingly hold the the other towns due to the main landmass being where the central city is located. While Lastation seems to have an issue with smog due to it looking significantly darker than the rest of the nations. This is most likely due to the number of factories in Lastation.
Leanbox is the landmass protected by the CPU Green Heart. It is also known as the Land of Green Pastures. This land is filled with beauties of nature and fresh air. It may possibly be the most peaceful of all the lands.
Leanbox is a nation that has a medieval theme. This landmass, like the others, is floating in the sky. However, unlike Lastation or Lowee, Leanbox is abundant with nature and filled with green pastures, hence its title. Aside from that, there are also numerous mountains in Leanbox which compliment its old fashioned look. Much like the other nations, Leanbox is surrounded by smaller islands that are attached to it by cable cords for the lift to take them to and from the mainland.
Lowee, also known as the Land of White Serenity, is protected by the Console Patron Unit (CPU) White Heart. This land is the coldest as it is always snowing. Magic is widely used here to make life more convenient.
Much like the other nations, Lowee is a floating landmass in the sky surrounded by smaller islands connected by cable cords. The climate in Lowee is a perpetual winter where it is always snowing. The theme of Lowee is that of Fantasy and everything looks like a magical kingdom. Clouds block out most of the sky and the sun hardly shines through. While the land has green grass, it also has snow-topped mountains throughout.
A Console Patron Unit (CPU), also known as a Guardian Goddess, is a term used to classify the goddesses. Each nation’s safe source of share energy is in the faith of their own patriots and the amount (piety number of followers) directly correlates to each CPU’s power.
Each CPU has two physical manifestations- Human and Goddess. Each CPU possesses two names- Birth Names and Divine Names. Examples of birth names include “Nepgear” and “Neptune”. Divine names are what the CPUs obtain when Hard Drive Divinity is engaged, such as “Green Heart” or “Purple Heart”. Divine names are also used in a formal context by dignitaries or civilians granted an audience. Regarding their physical appearance, the divine form is similar to the human appearance but with new characteristics. In some rare cases, their appearance will change dramatically.
Hard Drive Divinity (HDD) is the ability of a CPU to transform and access their full power through the utilization of Share Energy and their installed Processor Units.
Usually, there are some changes within a CPU when transformed into their HDD form. These include their personality and appearance. Noticeable features that change within a CPU’s appearance include their eyes, hair color, and hair style. In some cases, their stature and figure may change.
Share is a term describing the amount of influence a CPU and her formed nation has over a place. The amount of shares are influenced by the amount of faith and belief people has over a CPU. In addition to influence, the CPU’s powers depends on the amount of acquired shares. CPUs can be incapacitated if they have insufficient shares.
The total shares that can be acquired are divided between the nations of Gamindustri (Planeptune, Lastation, Leanbox, and Lowee) and a separate influence. Each nation and influence has a set amount of share at the start, so it’s only possible to transfer and gain/lose shares from each other rather than gaining it from an outside source. The amount of shares a nation has affect the power output of its respective CPUs and may affect events that may otherwise transpire in the story.
