Narya's origins can be traced back to ancient times when the Esmiko Gods of the north battled the Great Beasts for the fate of the Earth. The gods sought to find a new agent to prevent the beast's return, Nelvanna in turn mated with a human and gave birth to Narya. Her father, Lawrence Easton died while taking care of her, leaving Michael Twoyoungmen as her foster parent Narya grew up fast, maturing quickly and she along with her foster father would join the Canadian superhero team, Alpha Flight. Narya went by Alias of Snowbird and her father as Shaman. The team battled the Great Beasts and other threats, they also had run-ins with the X-Men team. To cover her identity of Snowbird and Narya, she picked up the identity Anne McKenzie and was trained as an RCMP (Royal Canadian Mountain Police) as a colonel. Narya would soon fall in love to an officer, Doug Thompson who she eventually ended up marrying and having a son. However, the Esmiko Gods did not approve of this and banned her from her realm Narya gave birth in the arctic, accompanied by her husband and foster-father. But the birthing of her son in the area awakened the Evil Pestilence who possessed Narya's son and aged him into an adult. The entity would soon kill her husband and Narya had to put his possessed son down but the Pestilence would possess Narya which made her foster father, Michael to put her down Her soul, along with her husband's and son's were welcomed to the Gods' realm. They could freely come and go from their realm to earth but as spirits until the terrorist scientific group, AIM (Advanced Idea Mechanics) resurrected her through a combination of science and magic. Alpha Flight would come to her rescue and she would join the team back Snowbird is a shapeshifter that can transform into any animal native to Canada. She can also be a human, which is an appearance she has taken for years. When she transforms into an animal smaller in mass and volume than a human being, she becomes a human-sized version of that animal. If she transforms into an animal larger in mass and volume than a human being, she gains mass from an unidentified mystical source. Snowbird gains the special attributes of the animal she takes the form of, such as the enhanced vision of an owl. Snowbird's personality is overlaid with the traits and behavior of the animal she has taken the form of. Over time, the animal's passions risk overwhelming her own self control. Being a mystical creature herself, Snowbird can pick up and sense various mystical activities from various places. She could detect the presence of magical energies or the breaching of a magical field. She can also resist teleportation, or she can opt to be teleported to place of her own choosing.
