I not sure what this is supposed to be. First try: Watched kids, dog got hit by a card. Took dog to vet, she was fine, took her home, some stranger tried to dog-nap her. Tried to stop him, dog died. Then the dead dog showed up at my door the following day, all better. Second try: tried to pre-emptively protect the dog, so the kids stomped on her, but for some reason stomping on the dog caused them to get hurt instead, so mother came to usher them inside while I dealt with the dog. Immediately a bunch of teenagers showed up and beat me up for no obvious reason. Dog waited for them to beat me up and then chased them away afterwards. I don't know what the author was going for, but I'm not sure this was it.
