Are we newlyweds or not? You say newlyweds and then "you've wanted for years". Years implies more than one year so at least two years... That is not a newlywed. Yet no matter how many times I ask her how long we're together the answer is always a year or less, which fits with newlyweds. I'll go with that.
Note the line "even after you went as far as marrying her". You were both in a relationship long before you got married (as most married couples tended to be), and you only recently married her in hopes to finally break the ice. Hence why you wanted to have sex with her for years, and only recently got married with her.
