She was raised by someone she calls "Grandpa", who came down from the upper levels to the slums. "Grandpa" was a Kurono researcher that end up crazy after coming back from a research station on the Moon. After miraculously surviving the Punishing Virus down in Earth, Karenina was made into a Construct after she was brought to Babylonia, and she trained at the Cosmos Technicians Union. Now Karenina is the captain of the Engineering Force in Babylonia, meanwhile Teddy (a female construct) is the vice-captain, they both constantly argue. Sees Lucia as her greatest rival, constantly seeking the opportunity to avenge the defeat that she once suffered at Lucia's hands during various virtual simulations, but Lucia has always been able to find a reason to avoid it. After a long time, humanity won against the Punishing and now people are going back to earth while some stayed on Babylonia, bringing back the Golden Age of Humanity. Babylonia is restarting it's colonial space station functions, in hope to explore and colonize planets.
