However, when Kitty prevented the assassination of Robert Kelly in the past, the future Rachel and the others live on still goes on and exists as a branched timeline The remaining X-Men in her alternate future tried to put an end to the sentinel programing but were unsuccessful. Since the Phoenix Force is heavily attached to Jean Grey's bloodline, it sent Rachel to the alternate past Kitty helped create. Rachel being in this new reality provides an advantage to the survival of the mutant population so the terrible future she experienced doesn't come to pass Rachel is a powerful telepath like her mother with a few bonuses such as, a telepathic cloak to mask her presence from others. Through psychic surgery, Rachel can heal a person's mental trauma(s) and psychometry; Reading the past from objects, poeple, and environments.
