Madelyne has a striking resemblance to Jean Grey, that's because she's a clone of Jean Grey She was brought to life my Mr. Sinister in one of his labs in Nebraska. At first, she didn't develop any of Jean Grey's mutant powers which disappointed Mr. Sinister and left Madelyne in her incubation tube. But not long after, Jean's suicide on the moon to kill of the Dark Phoenix made a spark of the Phoenix force to go to Madelyne's body since the two share the same genetic code. She got powers and some of Jean's memories Mr. Sinister was interested in Madelyne again after she developed powers. His end goal was to have a Jean clone to get together with Scott Summers to make a baby. Theoretically, the baby of Jean and Scott would be very powerful and would meet all the requirements to beat Apocalypse Madelyne, even though she had some of Jean's memories, she was still her own person and when she met with Cyclops and spent time with him, she grew feelings for him. Scott did the same, but she didn't know that Madelyne was a clone of Jean. But Madelyne could care less about it and eventually married Scott and she had a baby named, Nathan Christopher Charles Summer. Nathan Summer for short who would become Cable in the far future Madyne's marriage with Scott grew to be strained because she told Scott what she really was. Although, he accepted Madelyne, Scott was rarely home and still showed some signs of him missing Jean The Phoenix then revived Jean Grey which was the final nail in the coffin for Madelyne's and Scott's marriage. He left Madelyne and their baby for Jean Much happened, Mr. Sinister planned to have Madyne killed since Jean returned but she survived. but her baby was stolen by the Marauders and Madelyne was placed in a coma. She woke up some time later and with the X-Men, she planned to take her baby back. They then took on the Adversary and Madelyne gave her life to imprison him. She died but was brought back to life After that, Madelyne had a demon in her head known as S'ym, who toyed with her self doubt and offered her great power. Madelyne by now really hated Scott, even after proving her love to him with her sacrifice, it still went unnoticed. That's what she thinksand she also wanted Jean marked for death Madelyne lost herself to the dark side of her personality and manifested in black tattered uniform. Madylne made a contract with the demons S'ym and N'astirh to help create a link between Earth and the extra-dimensional Otherplace in exchange to locate the Marauders, to have the X-Men make them pay Over time, Madelyne descended into madness, forgetting her motherhood and her kindness Her attack on the X-Men failed and she died, again. This time, she lost the only spark of the Phoenix she had and it went back to Jean She currently operates as a villain to the X-Men and its allies.
